Teacher of Design and Technology job summary

The Wensum Trust is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic colleague to teach in our Technology department at Hellesdon High School, preferably with the ability to teach Resistant Materials and Engineering. This post offers the opportunity for future A-Level teaching for candidates interested and suitably qualified.

At Hellesdon High School, we are lucky enough to be able to offer a wide range of Design and Technology based subjects. Our workshops, food, textile and design rooms are fully equipped with specialist machinery and computer software which enable students to progress onto design based degree courses, specialist trade based courses and to further their interest in the hospitality and catering industry. The Design Technology team is a committed department of designers, craftspeople, food specialists and engineers. Between us we have many years of experience emanating from a range of backgrounds, but our collective vision is to help inspire and create students who have the qualities needed for the future world of work. Students whose skills will address the needs of the future: environmental concerns, use of sustainable materials and whose resilience will enable them to solve problems and to succeed in whichever career they choose.

At Hellesdon High School we are committed to an evidence-informed approach and a strong subject specific basis to our CPD programme. As a school and trust we offer excellent support for early career teachers, a number of career development opportunities and have great success in supporting staff seeking promoted posts.

Whilst this post would be ideal for an Early Career Teacher it is also a great opportunity for a teacher looking to broaden their experience in a large school with a Sixth Form and those seeking positions of responsibility in the future.

As part of The Wensum Trust, we believe that our shared duty is to help every child to develop into high achieving, confident, healthy, caring and resilient members of their family and community. We want our schools to be healthy environments where both children and staff can develop and where strong, positive relationships are key. Our school, therefore, practices a relational approach with children, our families and our communities. We are particularly interested in working with people who share Our Qualities; who will work effectively and flexibly as part of a team.

We care about bringing together the most able people, to help us achieve our vision of providing a rounded education for children, quality support for their families and opportunities to enrich our communities.
