Teacher of Design & Technology job summary

 
Thank you for expressing an interest in the post of Teacher of Design and Technology. 

Copthall School is led by a decisive leader having been awarded ‘TES Headteacher of the Year Award 2020’ and an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list for Services to Education.  High quality teaching and learning is one of our priorities which leads to outstanding results.   Our outcomes for GCSEs are outstanding with a year on year upward P8 trajectory, placing us in the top 3% nationally for progress.  Our thriving Sixth Form, which is in the top 12% of schools for A-Level results, offers both A-Level and Vocational pathways and we boast an excellent success rate in University applications. 

Our students are keen to learn and are a real pleasure to teach.  Due to the growth of our KS3 and KS5 curriculum, we are looking to recruit either an experienced or NQT, Design Technology/Product Design Teacher with the flexibility to teach outside of their specialist subject. Experience teaching Food and Nutrition at KS3 would be an advantage but not essential.  We have a range of departmental initiatives which provide opportunities for the right candidate to cultivate their creative capabilities. 
 
The successful candidate will be expected to: 
·         have QTS and a degree or a similar related Design Technology related qualification 
·         possess recent experience of teaching Design Technology/Product Design to students in KS3-KS5 
·         knowledge of the National Curriculum for GCSE and A Level DT including exam specifications 
·         be an innovative and reflective practitioner who is keen to learn 
·         have the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of pupils 

·         have an interest in and commitment to working with, supporting the development of, and safeguarding children
