What skills and experience we're looking for

Teacher of Design Technology

We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional practitioner to join us as a Teacher of Design Technology from September 2025 on a full-time, permanent basis. We are looking to appoint an inspirational and ambitious teacher, with the necessary knowledge, expertise and experience of teaching Design Technology across the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 age and ability range.

We require a teacher with an area of specialism in teaching Product Design/Resistant Materials. Computer literacy is essential, and a basic knowledge of CAD/CAM within Design and Technology is desired. Experience of teaching across the Technology disciplines of Food Studies and Textiles is welcomed.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding professional who is able to demonstrate high standards for teaching and learning so that students of all abilities are enthused, challenged, and motivated to succeed. They will join a vibrant and forward-thinking team, dedicated to raising aspirations and improving outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons, following the school's curriculum and schemes of work
  • Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned students
  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of students
  • Promote good progress and outcomes for all students
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school's policies and practises
  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Excellent subject knowledge and expertise in Design Technology, with a specialism in Product Design/Resistant Materials
  • Experience of teaching Design Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  • Strong understanding of the latest teaching and learning strategies to engage and motivate students
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and meeting the needs of all students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Suitable for ECTs and experienced teachers.
