What skills and experience we're looking for
Technology is a popular subject and has improved over the past couple of years after a period of instability. It encompasses all disciplines through a carousel at Key Stage 3 and options at Key Stage 4. We have a partnership with Rochdale Town Hall to be involved in its regeneration through the Heritage Lottery Fund and currently our DEC pupils will play a significant role in this.
We are looking for someone to teach DT across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The department is well resourced with the support of a faculty technician.
The team is cohesive and supportive with a will to develop their area of curriculum so that our pupils can benefit.
What the school offers its staff
If you visit the school I would hope you would notice the warm, welcoming environment; the excellent behaviour of the children; strong staff morale; a commitment to professional development of all staff; and a strong sense that this is a place where learning is valued.
We have been very proud during Covid to continue moving forward and we made some deliberate choices that enabled us to do this. We have developed our community wing of the school and are working closely with our charitable and voluntary organisations on social action and social justice projects. We believe in the beauty of civil society: of schools and community partners working together, ultimately benefiting the wellbeing and agency of communities. We would expect the successful applicant to be part of this approach.
We do work hard at the school but teacher’s timetables are generous and we do not have a culture of “meeting for meeting’s sake.” We are sensible with workload and expectations and are not afraid to stop if what we are doing isn’t having an impact on compelling learning.
Commitment to safeguarding
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates will undergo an enhanced DBS check, checks of references and employment history.

Falinge Park High School is a large, over-subscribed, multicultural, inclusive comprehensive in Rochdale. There is a warm, welcoming atmosphere in the school and a positive ethos amongst the staff. We have created a culture which supports each other at every level rather than a tick-box approach to success.
Our core purpose is to secure the best academic and personal outcomes for all pupils and instil a life-long love of learning. This will ensure that all learners believe in themselves and their future, have choices and the power to make them and are able to contribute positively to society.
Empowering all to: ASPIRE, THRIVE, AND ACHIEVE
The Governors of Falinge Park High School have determined that the school should join the Watergrove Trust, a Rochdale-based multi-academy trust which aligns very positively with the Falinge Park values and mission. We hope to join the Watergrove community of two secondary and five primary schools in July 2024.
Watergrove is a part centralised trust which shares core processes but also honours the individual character of all its schools, so whilst benefiting from the collaborative opportunities of being in a trust, you will also be firmly part of the Falinge Park family
