Teacher of Design & Technology (Resistant Materials) job summary
We are looking to appoint a Teacher of Design & Technology, with a specialism in Resistant Materials, commencing September 2019. We are seeking someone who will be ambitious for our students, has a vision for the development of D & T in our curriculum. The challenge for the successful applicant will be to assist the department in continuing to raise standards at both KS3 and GCSE.
The Design and Technology department is a strong department across both campuses. The team are talented and enthusiastic. They worked tirelessly as a team to drive up standards of achievement and attainment. The department sits within the Foundation Faculty. It comprises of six highly skilled main scale teachers and two part time technicians. The department is housed in four rooms at Shakespeare Campus and three at Cherbourg. All students are taught Design and Technology at KS3, and within options subjects at KS4. After School clubs are encouraged, as are STEM activities and trips to help build up enthusiasm for this subject. We also run an annual community ‘Christmas market’ which involves our Year 9 D&T students creating products to sell as mini ‘businesses’. This is very popular and the pinnacle of the department’s year. Subjects taught across both campuses are Food, Resistant Materials and Textiles. The current exam board is AQA. Option numbers have always been strong and we hope to continue this as Design and Technology heads in a different direction with a new specification.
This position would suit an NQT or an experienced teacher.
