The Priory Academy LSST, one of the UK’s top performing state schools, is looking for a Teacher of Technology to join our exceptional staff body. You would join a team who are rightly proud of our Academy’s outstanding academic track record but prouder still of the vibrant, supportive and ambitious culture to which we all contribute and foster. The Academy, which also includes the Robert De Cheney Boarding House, sits in extensive grounds and has excellent facilities including a Sports Centre, a contemporary robotics lab and recently refurbished classrooms.
The successful candidate will benefit from numerous career development and network opportunities through LSST’s membership of The Priory Federation of Academies Trust, its role as a teaching school, a member of LTSA and the lead school for IOP. This allows for secondments, CPD, promotion and progression within the organisation and supports our strategy to retain and reward talent.
This role will challenge you, give you autonomy to teach and provide varied pathways to progression, whilst ensuring you are guided and supported throughout your career.
More about the Department
The Technology department at LSST has many strengths; it is friendly and supportive and works as a team. The department has a high profile within the Academy and has been recognised nationally as a Technology department that produces outstanding examples of quality work. The department regularly achieves excellent grades at GCSE and GCE level; these results have been achieved through teachers encouraging students to take pride in their work and ensuring they work to the best of their abilities, producing quality products of which they can be proud.
The department is equipped with an excellent range of resources with a suite of well-equipped subject specific rooms and dedicated ICT rooms.
In KS3, the students study five main subject areas: Textiles, Product Design, Food Preparation and Nutrition, Engineering (Electronics) and Digital Products.
Teachers have the opportunity to deliver courses, which relate to their professional skills. This format means that it has been possible to develop a Scheme of Learning, which has a dominant practical nature based on design and makes themes with the related theory tasks.
Building on the KS3 content, at KS4, the department runs a diverse range of popular courses. These include Design and Technology, Fashion and Textiles, Systems Control in Engineering and Food Preparation and Nutrition. At KS5 students can choose either Product Design or a Level 3 Tech Level in Design Engineering.
The candidate appointed will be well supported and encouraged to develop their teaching skills across a full range of subjects. We are looking for a cheerful, hardworking, and capable teacher who can use their own initiative to develop teaching strategies that will interest and motivate students. We would be keen to hear how your skills, experience and expertise might enhance this already successful department.
