What skills and experience we're looking for
Design and Technology is a highly popular and successful subject at The Wavell School. The Faculty teaches a range of specialisms in KS4 such as Timbers, Paper and Board, Textiles, Engineering Programmable Systems and Food Preparation and Nutrition. In 2024 results Engineering Programmable Systems sat within the top 25% in the country and Food Preparation and Nutrition was in the top 10% in the country. The Design and Technology Faculty occupies 7 classrooms with 3 full computer suites, alongside 2 preparation rooms and a staff room. The team is fully supported by 2 highly skilled technicians. There is a very strong and supportive work ethos within the team creating a great supportive and working atmosphere.
We are looking to appoint a dynamic classroom practitioner who:
- has excellent subject knowledge
- is resilient and resourceful
- sets a high standard and who inspires students to meet this
- makes learning exciting, leading to high levels of engagement and exam success
- thrives within a team and who enjoys collaborative working
- who ideally can teach all Design and Technology specialisms through to GCSE, with a focus on Textiles for GCSE desired but not essential.
