In our well-resourced Design Technology Department, Food Technology is a vibrant and valued subject that equips young people with essential life skills, scientific understanding and a genuine love of food and nutrition.

As a teacher of Design Technology (Food), you will:

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition

  • demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver inspirational learning experiences for students

  • have an understanding of how to promote effective and inclusive teaching and learning

  • be able to evidence success in raising student achievement across a broad range of abilities through successful assessment, monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the range of strategies that could be used to address underachievement

  • possess good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents

  • demonstrate a strong desire to undertake Continuing Professional Development to inform teaching

Whether you are an experienced teacher or an ECT looking to develop your craft in a supportive environment, we would love to hear from you.

Join us and help shape confident, creative and capable young people—one design, one dish, one lesson at a time.

The Department

The Technology Department includes Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles and Food Technology. Technology is a popular subject both at Key Stage 3 and GCSE, with demand exceeding capacity. The department is well resourced with two workshops (one housing a laser cutter and a 3D printer), one textiles room, and a designated Food room. A full time technician ably assists in the preparation for Food Technology lessons and supports students with SEND.

The department is also supported by a Lead Practitioner within the Trust, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained.
