Due to expansion, Wootton Academy Trust is seeking to appoint a Design Technology teacher ideally with a Product Design specialism to teach in the Trust’s two schools, Wootton Upper School [900 pupils in Years 9 - 11] and Kimberley 16 - 19 STEM College [700 students in Years 12 - 13].
It is an exciting time to join WATs Design Technology team of experienced teachers. We have increasing numbers of learners studying Graphics and Product Design across KS3, KS4 and KS5. We also offer Engineering at KS 5. Large numbers of WAT learners progress to university and into apprenticeships to continue studying DT and Engineering related subjects.
In September 2021 we are introducing A Level Design Technology [Product Design] and we anticipate that the person appointed to this role will contribute towards the teaching of this course. The person appointed may also contribute towards the teaching of Level 3 BTEC Engineering at KS5. As well as teaching GCSE Design Technology the successful applicant will also teach Year 9 pupils ideally contributing to both Product Design and Graphics lessons.
Wootton Academy Trust’s Design and Technology Department has fantastic resources including a range of DT specialist workshops at Wootton Upper School and state of the art facilities at Kimberley College, a specialist STEM institution.
We are looking for a colleague who is:
• A highly successful classroom practitioner;
• An enthusiastic and hardworking team player who wants to share best practice;
• Able to achieve high levels of pupil engagement, challenge and progress;
• Inspirational with the ability to motivate students;
• Ability to teach KS3, KS4 and KS5;
• Able to contribute to the ongoing development of schemes of learning; and
• Willing to contribute and engage in extra-curricular Design and Technology activities.
This post is likely to appeal to teachers looking for their first appointment wanting to teach across the 13 - 19 age range working in a large department of subject specialists as well as other teachers keen to work in a Trust with a specialist STEM College.
Whilst the post is full-time, the Trust will consider applications from teachers preferring to work part-time [0.6 and above].
Closing Date: 09:00 on Thursday 25th February 2021. Please apply at the earliest opportunity. We reserve the right to close the vacancy early should we receive applications from outstanding candidates.
