Teacher of Drama job summary
Required for September 2021, an inspirational and talented teacher of Drama able to teach up to A level, to join our vibrant and successful department. The Drama Department holds high academic standards and results are excellent. Colleagues use a range of teaching methods with an emphasis on developing students as individuals, contributors to society and to the economy. Throughout the key stages, students investigate theatre, rehearse and perform drama and evaluate and analyse their own work and live theatre. There is a range of teaching material available within the department, including playscripts, props, costumes and a verity of stimuli for devising.
Drama is taught as a discrete subject and taught to all key stage 3 classes weekly. At GCSE students follow the AQA Drama specification and there are typically two classes in each year group. Sixth Form students follow the Edexcel Drama and Theatre specification and typically there is one class per year group. Most students follow the performer pathway, however each year students do choose to follow the design route, and students have completed their qualifications in lighting, costume and sound at GCE level.
The main duties and responsibilities for the teacher of Drama is to ensure the delivery of the comprehensive and high-quality curriculum to provide continuity and progression for students learning and to stimulate and encourage students to achieve excellence in their work.
