What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an imaginative and enthusiastic Teacher of Drama. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher to join an innovative and caring school. This would be a fantastic role for either an experienced teacher or an ECT who is looking to start their career in a well-established department. The ability to teach performing arts would be advantageous and provide the candidate with further exciting opportunities to work with students across key stages.

What the school offers its staff

  • A fantastic working environment where students are enthusiastic and want to learn. All our Hampton schools have modern buildings, with light and airy classrooms, outstanding facilities and are situated at the heart of the community.
  • We value our staff and recognise the importance of providing ongoing training opportunities. As a growing Trust we are also able to offer opportunities for promotion and fresh challenges as new roles arise regularly.
  • Our extensive induction programme supports staff every step of the way.
  • Full access to the Health Assured Employee Assistance Programme which is designed to help staff deal with any personal or professional problems. Staff have access to free legal advice, medical information, counselling sessions, online self-help tools, factsheets and the wellbeing portal.
  • Discounted local gym membership.

Further details about the role

Drama is taught across Key Stage 3 on a weekly basis. The curriculum focuses on introducing key performance skills, practitioners, and genres of theatre. At Key Stage 4 & 5, we offer Eduqas GSCE Drama and A-level Drama and Theatre.

The team currently consists of a Head of Drama reporting to a Deputy Head of School and one full time Teacher of Drama. All Drama lessons are taught in a fully equipped black box studio and in the performance hall.

The department produces a school musical or drama production every year, as well as Creative Arts’ showcases at Christmas and Summer. Extra-Curricular clubs are valued and have a strict focus towards performing in any performances/showcases that year. Regular theatre visits form a part of the curriculum and extra-curricular provision.

The Drama department works closely and collaboratively with the Music and Dance departments. The successful candidate will be expected to make a substantial contribution to extra-curricular activities for the performing arts.

Commitment to safeguarding

Hampton Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will require an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service.

In accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education, the school will consider carrying out an online search as part of the due diligence on shortlisted candidates.

Full details are contained with our Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy and Recruitment and Selection Policy, which are available via our website, or on request.
