Teacher of Engineering job summary
We are seeking a qualified teacher to join our successful Design Technology department to teach Engineering up to KS4, with the potential for KS5 as students progress through the course. You will join a leading department in a heavily over-subscribed academy. The Design Technology department is staffed with experienced teachers and a very knowledgeable Engineering Technician, all with a commitment to continuous school improvement.
Our aim is to establish a culture of excellence throughout every element of our academy and move us from Good to Outstanding.
Highcrest has a bespoke approach to the curriculum. As well as offering academic level qualifications (A Levels), we also pride ourselves on our vocational curriculum (including qualifications with OCR, BTEC and NCFE). In DT, we currently offer Construction, Food Tech, Fashion (Textiles), and Rocket Science, as well as having a specialist Engineering workshop offering the opportunity to teach a range of qualifications in this field. In addition, we plan to open our Hair and Beauty salon in the next academic year. We intend to expand this further to work with lead manufacturers and designers and the potential opportunity to work with Formula E.
Just 30 minutes by train from Central London, The Highcrest Academy is the first All Ability Academy in the county of Buckinghamshire. It is culturally diverse and a vibrant school making it a fantastic place to teach. We have some students who will need all your support and yet have also featured in the national Ofsted report for providing challenge to the most able.
There are approximately 1,000 students on roll, which includes the Sixth Form. A new building programme, just completed, comprises a brand-new Sixth Form Centre, sports facilities including a gym, and a new restaurant and coffee shop for both students and staff. We also have a thriving House system that brings our whole school community together.
Commitment to safeguarding
The Highcrest Academy is fully committed to safeguarding children (policies on web). All members of staff are in a “regulated” role under the Vetting & Barring Scheme and have to be DBS cleared prior to employment.
