Teacher of English - 0.6 FTE

We warmly welcome applications from expert teachers that can deliver English with energy and infectious enthusiasm to students of all abilities across KS3 and KS4, whether newly qualified or highly experienced. This includes applications from trainee teachers, although the appointment will be subject to successful completion of teacher training.
The English department is staffed with subject experts and is very well resourced through our commitment to provide outstanding opportunities for learning, including well-appointed classrooms, library and direct access to IT suites.
Essential educational requirements
A relevant degree.
Formal teaching qualification (QTS status).
The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate their entitlement to work in the UK.
Essential skills and experience
Experience of teaching English in a secondary setting would be advantageous.
While the English role is part-time at 0.6 FTE, we frequently have other opportunities for additional hours that may be of interest, such as intervention work and lesson cover.
Our Academy is part of the South East Cornwall Multi Academy Regional Trust (SMART), which provides for outstanding local career opportunities, excellent professional development opportunities and access to expert support, advice, guidance and knowledge pooling from fellow practitioners in our partner schools.
About Looe Community Academy
Our Academy is situated in the historic fishing town of Looe on Cornwall’s outstanding south eastern coastline, serving the beautiful coastal and rural villages and hamlets and is just a scenic, 30 minute drive from Plymouth. Assessed by Ofsted in January 2019 as a good school, the Academy is an inclusive secondary community school delivering Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 to 610 students aged 11-16 and of mixed ability.
