Teacher of English job summary
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and inspiring classroom practitioner with a real passion for English. We offer an exciting opportunity to enhance an already highly successful, supportive and motivated team. This role would be an ideal opportunity for a recently qualified or experienced teacher to work in a very successful school and access excellent professional development in the form of the extensive advice, support, resources, training and career opportunities available in the academy and across the Outwood Grange Family of Schools.
Outwood Grange Academy is an Academy of Excellence and a very high performing school. It is the founding school of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, which operates primary and secondary academies in the region. Situated in Wakefield, close to both the M1 and M62, it is a large school with a Post-16 Centre where English A levels are a popular choice.
In 2018, 91% of students achieved a grade 4 in GCSE English and 80% of students achieved a grade 5 in GCSE English.
In our last OFSTED inspection (March 2012) we were judged outstanding in all areas including an outstanding judgment for overall effectiveness. Ofsted recognised that ‘Outstanding teaching is at the root of students’ excellent achievement’ and ‘the excellent behaviour of students contributes to an outstanding climate for learning’.
The Outwood Institute of Education, one of the first National Teaching Schools, provides world class professional development. Staff can access programmes such as the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leaders and Outstanding Teacher Programme as well as having the opportunity to engage with universal and national research projects.
