Teacher of English job summary

We are a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted, April 2024) which is vibrant and purposeful. We are a co-educational, comprehensive state boarding school for children aged 7 to 18 years, with approximately 670 flexi-borders and 430 full boarders. The school is a popular choice for local families who attend on our flexi boarding package, as well as for full boarders from further afield in the UK and internationally. This is due to a wide range of factors including our facilities, academic pathways and results, pastoral care, the boarding and flexi-boarding ethos and environment, wide range of trips and co-curricular activities and the resultant attitudes of its students.

We offer:

• Strong induction programme

• Beautiful estate set in 260 acres of parkland

• On-site parking

• Convenient location, close to the A23 and M25

We are looking for an exceptional Teacher of English who can provide highly effective and innovative teaching of English across the senior school, to ensure that all our students make excellent progress and inspire students to have a passion for the subject. Some experience in delivering Media Studies, French or Spanish would be a benefit but is not essential.

All KS4 students do both English Language and English Literature at GCSE.

The department is keen to develop further the academic successes which have been gained by the students right across the ability range including a number of students going on to study at degree level.

The successful candidate will be:

• Passionate about the teaching of English

• An excellent practitioner

• Enthusiastic about his/her own professional development

We reserve the right to interview and appoint prior to the closing date of the advertisement.
