What skills and experience we're looking for
You must be able to clearly communicate your passion for English and literacy, and engage successfully with our learners.
You will be required to teach across the full age and ability range, and therefore you must have good knowledge and understanding of KS3 and KS4 English Language and Literature. Applications are welcomed from ECTs. We will appoint the best candidate on the day. This could be an upper threshold teacher, main scale teacher or ECT.
What the school offers its staff
Are you looking to teach in a happy, well established and successful English Department, where Ofsted recently said behaviour was excellent?
We are based on the outskirts of Durham, with good road connections to the A19 and A1. We have excellent facilities and resources and currently offer a generous non-contact allocation, which equates to one session per day. The School is well regarded in the locality and has been oversubscribed for the past 4 years.
Commitment to safeguarding
The school is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. As part of our due diligence and to comply with our obligations in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, an online search of publicly available information will be undertaken for all shortlisted candidates. All School posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants will be subject to appropriate background checks and vetting including an enhanced DBS check and checks against the children’s barred list.
