We are seeking an outstanding 2ic of English to work within our high performing Academy.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your role will be:

  • To support the Head of English to raise standards of student attainment and achievement within English and to monitor and support student progress
  • To develop and enhance the teaching practice of other teachers in the subject area.
  • To help provide a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students studying English.
  • To support the management of staff within the department and physical resources.
  • To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor.
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • University qualification (Good Honours degree)
  • Postgraduate teaching qualification
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience
  • Evidence of consistently good teaching and learning
  • The ability to use ICT effectively to engage students
  • An understanding of how to use assessment to inform planning for good teaching and learning
  • The ability to differentiate materials to meet the needs of learners
  • Evidence of pastoral experience
  • An interest in the wider curriculum

Harris City Academy Crystal Palace is a mixed Academy for 1,300 students aged 11-18, with a large sixth form of over 350 students.
