What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking for January 2024 a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of English to join our established and effective department.

Please note there may be opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake additional departmental responsibility, with an associated TLR payment.

This post will suit a teacher keen to play a full part in the life of the school. As a selective school, we have a number of very able students but we are looking for a well-qualified teacher able to motivate and challenge all our students.

Applicants invited for interview will be given an opportunity to display their teaching skills in front of a class.

Applicants must complete the application form and submit it to the school by no later than midday on the closing date of 25th September 2023. Please be aware that we reserve the right to call for interview and appoint prior to the closing date.

Selection process:

1. A face to face interview; and

2. Teaching observation;

Southend High School for Boys (SHSB) is an ‘Outstanding’ school (Ofsted 2015), rated as outstanding against every one of the inspection criteria.
