What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you an enthusiastic, inspiring teacher who can bringEnglish to life and create a nurturing learning environment, within which everyone can reach their full potential? If so, join Wilmington Academy in the role of Teacher of English and you will be part of a highly successful, vibrant, experienced, supportive department.

We have a strong team ethos and believe in working collaboratively, sharing ideas and supporting each other to achieve great things and see this as the key to further developing innovative teaching and learning strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join an academy which is committed to providing high-quality professional development opportunities.

What the school offers its staff

Wilmington Academy joined the Trust in September 2010. The Academy is very successful, where students from a wide variety of backgrounds and starting points can flourish and succeed. Our curriculum is carefully designed to meet the needs and aspirations of all our young people and we have an extensive programme of enrichment and support that provides extra opportunities for personal development and growth. We are housed in state of the art buildings in a semi-rural location just outside of Dartford. Rated by OfSTED as Good with Outstanding Leadership and Management, Wilmington offers a calm and purposeful learning environment where students can flourish and succeed.

Further details about the role

Applications from Early Career Teachers (ETCs) are welcome as are applications from more experienced teachers; we can offer a fantastic range of professional development opportunities within the academy and across the wider Trust. Wilmington Academy is an IB World School and so knowledge of IB English would be desirable but not essential as training can be delivered, where necessary, to upskill our successful candidate in the delivery of the MYP and IB programmes. This is a full-time, permanent position and the salary offered is MPS/UPS commensurate with experience + London Fringe Allowance.

Commitment to safeguarding

Leigh Academies Trust and all of our academies are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We adopt a fair, robust and consistent recruitment process across all academies and business units which is inline with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. This includes online checks for shortlisted candidates - you can read more about this in our Recruitment Guidance. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check.
