About the role: As an English teacher, you are the custodian of a great gift to young people. It is a subject that uniquely cultivates a young person’s capacity to engage and influence the world around them. You will also take young people on a journey into great works of literature which entice them into other worlds, other wisdoms and the wellsprings of humanity. Through literature and language you take the voice of a young person in all its raw passion and skillfully refine and enrich it so it can become clear and compelling. Working for Strood Academy: Since opening in 2009, our academy has transformed the educational opportunities and outcomes for girls and boys in Strood. The improvement in academic performance has been driven by a talented and committed workforce, the hard work of our students, and support from parents and our community. Our new buildings in Carnation Road were designed in partnership with Nicholas Hare and built by BAM as our main contractor at a cost of £26m.
