What skills and experience we're looking for

The English & Media department at QKA are award-winning, with an ambitious and aspiring team. The team were awarded the TES English Team of the Year 2021 award for their delivery of a ‘multi-layered approach in bringing texts to life for students, as well as the uniqueness of the curriculum and the ways in which diversity in literature is strongly embedded’ (TES Judges). The team were also shortlisted for the Bernice McCabe Award and were commended by the PTI for their work on the growth in their KS5 provision and social mobility. We have recently taken on the leadership of the Media department which has created lots of exciting opportunities for growth and development.

The department is well resourced and led by fantastic practitioners; we are looking to appoint a colleague who shares their enthusiasm and unwavering determination to help every student enjoy,achieveand progress inEnglish and Media from KS3 through to KS5. In Sixth Form, A Level English Language and A Level English Literature are delivered and in bothsubjects,students make well above average progress given their starting points. Media Studies at KS4 and KS5 is a popular option which we continue to offer every year.

Our English and Media Department continues to grow; as a result, we are looking for an engaging and forward-thinking individual who will enhance and augment the existing team.
