What skills and experience we're looking for
Teacher of English
Full time, permanent from the 1 September 2024
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational subject specialist with a love of language and literature to teach English across the age and ability range. This post is suitable for either an ECT Teacher or more experienced practitioner. We welcome applications from those without prior A level experience, but with knowledge and ability to learn quickly. Knowledge of, or experience in teaching accelerated literacy development at Key Stage 3 would also be highly desirable.

Candidates must be passionate about teaching: committed to improving the learning outcomes of all pupils; able to demonstrate the ability to deliver high quality teaching and inspire and motivate young people to achieve outstanding outcomes.
We believe in educating young people not only for their academic success, but to be powerful citizens. English is at the heart of this and our pupils are passionate about the written and spoken word. We teach challenging texts in mixed ability sets and believe in the power of developing our pupils’ cultural capital alongside their reading and writing skills. We also actively seek to decolonise and diversify our curriculum and welcome applicants with a passion for this work.
The successful candidate will be joining a creative and dedicated team characterised by high support, high challenge and a willingness to develop as professionals through sharing good practice with one another. The English Faculty foster a pro-active culture of collaboration and reflective practice that has pupils’ well-being and success at its heart.
