What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an inspiring and outstanding classroom practitioner to add to our team; we are looking for someone who is ambitious and able to share their enthusiasm and passion for English with all of their students and colleagues. Whether you are looking for a full or part time position, we would love to hear from you!

We are a passionate, collaborative, successful English department made up of staff from a wealth of different experiences and subject strengths, open to reflection, with the desire to evolve and develop. English is a successful and popular subject at Myton and we therefore have a large uptake at KS5, enabling us to offer 3 different A-Level English subjects (Literature, Linguistics and Combined Language & Literature); any new additions to the staff would have the opportunity to be a part of our KS5 team teaching in an Outstanding sixth form.

With our linked English Boost department ensuring that students who need it receive additional support at KS3, and alternative additional qualifications at KS4, and with a thriving A-Level core, we aim to ensure that no child is left behind and that we instil a love of reading and language in all of our students. Through our revitalised Key Stage 3 curriculum and our Key Stage 4 approach, we seek to ensure our students leave Myton with, not only the qualifications they need for their next steps, but that they are ready to read the world around them.

What the school offers its staff

We have an engaging and inclusive enrichment program within English, utilising our close relationship with the RSC, and we run many theatre trips for all year groups, a variety of conference visits and have had a medal winning debate team for many years. Working alongside our dedicated Drama and Media colleagues, our Library team and Literacy coordinator, we are a strong team and would welcome applications from both experienced English teachers and those new to the profession. As a large school there are always opportunities for staff to develop and flourish; the creation of the English Boost team and the expansion of our Media and Film department in recent years is testament to that, as we have been afforded the opportunities to grow and develop our provision. For more information on this vacancy, please contact Nikki Ealden, Head of English, on ealden.n@myton.co.uk.
