Bay House School and Sixth Form Headlines
Bay House School and Sixth Form is celebrating its best ever GCSE results since the introduction of the reformed qualifications. Headline figures include 79 per cent of students achieving an English GCSE grade 9 to 4, with 74 per cent doing so in maths. Similarly impressive results were achieved in biology with 84 per cent achieving 9 to 4, 75 per cent in chemistry and 9 to 4 grades achieved by 80 per cent taking physics.
We have been ranked best in the whole of Hampshire in terms of improving pupils’ performance between GCSE and A-Levels, achieving a progress score of 0.56 which means on average pupils, of the same pre-assessed academic ability, attained more than half a grade higher than their peers nationally. The grades were the best ever achieved at the school with 90% of students achieving a* to C grades and 70% getting A* to B – comfortably exceeding the 76% and 51% attained nationally.
The score placed the school the 12th best nationally for pupil progress and ranked joint 2nd best state A Level provider in the country for centers with over 100 candidates (DfE).

We are a large and dynamic English department of 25+ teachers, offering qualifications such as GCSE Media Studies, Creative iMedia and A Level Film Studies alongside GCSE and A Level English Language and English Literature. We strive to simultaneously challenge and support the pupils in our English classrooms and pride ourselves on supporting each other as colleagues too.
