What skills and experience we're looking for

Outwood Academy Acklam is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and inspiring classroom practitioner with a real passion for English. We offer an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and motivated team. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’. Applications are invited from both newly qualified and experienced professionals.

With a holistic view of education, we aim to create a safe and secure learning community that encourages healthy and sustainable lifestyles and empowers students to pursue career pathways they will find stimulating and deeply rewarding.

As part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust we offer our colleagues extensive CPD opportunities and are committed to the Outwood vision of putting students first, raising standards and transforming lives.

Prospective applicants are welcome to contact us if they have any questions or would like to arrange a tour of the academy. Come and see what we are all about! Please contact Jayne Yale on j.yale@acklam.outwood.comshould you wish to visit the school and have a tour of the departments to see what we have to offer.

What the school offers its staff

Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT) is an education charity and not-for-profit sponsor of primary, junior and secondary academies. We are a dynamic organisation, recognised nationally as one of the highest performing family of schools in the North of England, and we currently sponsor over 30 schools.

Our educational blueprint has been developed through leading and supporting schools over many years.

We have used this successful blueprint to sponsor academies and have a transformational effect on children’s life chances within very quick timescales.

We feel strongly that academies should enhance the education provision of the community they serve, in addition to driving up standards and playing a central role in regeneration. This is because we believe that improving the life chances of young people is essential to developing a strong local and national economy.

We are now comprised of over 30 schools who work together to ensure that all children, irrespective of their starting point, receive an excellent education. We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of children in our care, including the most vulnerable or challenging.
