About the Role
You will oversee the planning and implementation of schemes of work, enabling students to attain their optimum potential in the subject. As an effective communicator, your collegiate approach will inspire colleagues to work collaboratively towards achieving these outcomes. You should also be keen to play a full and inclusive role in the wider life of our school community and be able to contribute to the development of our school both pastorally and through co-curricular activities.
The depth of experience and expertise within our department means that we are equally as comfortable in developing and supporting recent graduates or new entrants to the profession as we are in welcoming more experienced teaching colleagues to the team. The key elements we require are a real subject specialism and enthusiasm for the role.
Over the past few years, we have collaborated as a department to create a curriculum that is knowledge-rich, challenging and diverse, with a focus on exposing our students to a variety of traditional and modern literature, whilst also preparing them for the wider world. Our curriculum is something that we are incredibly proud of, and as a member of our team your subject knowledge would be valued to help support the development of this further.
Also, our department has experienced exciting growth in KS5 recently, with our sixth form cohorts increasing year on year, and students gaining offers from Russell Group universities to study English. As the intake for KS5 increases, so does our ability to develop members of our team and create several specialists in A Level. Recently, we carried out our first international trip in English, where KS5 students explored the city of Paris to support their study of a set text anthology. As a team, we wish to continue to develop the enrichment opportunities we have for our students, therefore this is an exciting time to join us.
As a member of the English department at Corby Business Academy, you will be working in a supportive, professional environment, where there is a shared vision of academic rigour and continued development for both staff and students. Whether an experienced teacher or an ECT, your voice will be listened to, and an opportunity provided to contribute to our ongoing development as a department.

Our staff have an uncompromising commitment to this and work closely with one another to support and develop students as well as one another.
In April 2023 the Academy was judged to be GOOD in all areas by OFSTED, who highlighted that:
“Leaders have brought about significant improvement at this school. They focus on providing an ambitious curriculum for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and / or disabilities (SEND)”.
“Leaders have raised their expectations of pupils’ behaviour and conduct, which is having a positive impact. Pupils behave very well in lessons. During lesson changeover times and at breaktimes, the school is calm and orderly”.
