Job description

We are passionate about English and devoted to both maintaining our high academic standards as well as ensuring that all girls experience the joy to be found in the subject. We are seeking a really strong teacher who loves English and is able to inspire our girls and help them to thrive. English is a successful, popular and highly regarded subject at Challoner’s High and will be very rewarding to teach

Experience, Knowledge and Skills
1. Ability to teach English across the curriculum including GCSE and A level
2. Knowledge of Health and Safety
3. Proven record of excellent teaching, with the ability and desire to inspire students to be intellectually ambitious and to achieve at the highest levels

Essential skills and experience

4. High standards of classroom management
5. Understanding of the needs of able young women
6. Strong written and oral communication skills and the confidence to work effectively with staff, students and parents
7. Strong knowledge and experience of Health & Safety & SEN practices
8. Competent and effective user of ICT in teaching and learning and for administrative purposes
9. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
10. Knowledge of current educational and curricular developments
11. Ability to organise and lead trips
12. Well-developed organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines
13. Knowledge of how to track student progress and the ability to give constructive feedback to maximise students’ progress
