Teacher of English & Drama job summary

TEACHER OF DRAMA & ENGLISH

Role appropriate for ECTs or experienced teachers, with potential for a July start

The Academy is looking to appoint a passionate and well-qualified teacher of Drama and English. The role would suit an Early Career Teacher. If you want to be part of a thriving department that goes above and beyond to ensure we provide the highest quality of education to students, then NHGS is the school for you. In return, you will become part of a close team; a warm, welcoming and happy department.

Currently, Drama is taught in Years 7 and 8, and we have ambitions to extend provision into Year 9 and GCSE.

Therefore, we would ideally like to appoint a teacher with Drama training who is keen to grow with the subject, but who would also be able to teach English, which would initially form the greater proportion of the timetable. We will also consider applicants who are primarily English teachers with some Drama background and a willingness to undertake further training.

All KS4 students complete AQA GCSE English Language and AQA GCSE English Literature. For the Literature paper, we teach Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, Lord of the Flies and the War and Conflict anthology. We deliver A Levels in English Language (AQA) and English Literature (OCR).

The candidate must be:

  • An inspirational teacher
  • Driven in their relentless pursuit of the highest standards across the department
  • Highly organised and meticulous
  • Creative and imaginative
  • A team player

Applicants are welcome to arrange a phone call to discuss the role prior to applying.
