Salford City Academy has an exciting opportunity to appoint a teacher of English. We wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of English, who has a passion for developing students’ love of reading and understands the importance of enabling young people to communicate both verbally and with the written world in real life situations beyond education. The post would suit either an ECT or experienced teacher. If you have a talent and the potential to be an outstanding member of the department, we look forward to receiving your application.

In February 2022 Ofsted judged the academy to continue to be a good school citing ‘Pupils at Salford City Academy said that they enjoy coming to school to learn. Academic results at the academy have improved year on year and we were delighted to celebrate the schools ‘best’ results this summer achieving a progress 8 of +0.31, placing us in the top 24% of schools in the country and top of all Northern United Learning schools. What do we offer:
Salford City Academy is committed to professional development; all teaching staff are expected to actively participate in a programme of continuing professional development (CPD). We work collaboratively, share good practice, and have a Trust-wide approach to development. We need to make sure that we have the right people in the right place, doing the job that is needed to build excellent provision for our children and young people. Staff are supported professionally to ensure they can do that and are valued and recognised for their work. We have an extensive professional development programme within the academy, where staff are involved in reflective practice, coaching, weekly deliberate practice and CPD focused on academy, subject and individual priorities. We are passionate about teaching and learning and there are numerous opportunities to collaborate across the curriculum and develop pedagogy for the benefit of students. This investment in teaching and learning and professional development is supported by the United Learning Salford Cluster and also at a wider whole trust level. Such a commitment is reflected in the number of staff participating in leadership programmes over recent years, and more importantly the number now in leadership positions with the academy, cluster and trust.
United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resources, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. Our approaches within the academy support this so that our main focus can be on planning and delivering high quality teaching and learning. For example, all behaviour and detentions are managed centrally by the Inclusion Team. This allows teachers the time and capacity to deliver high quality lessons and supports their workload and well-being
