What skills and experience we're looking for
Breckland School is seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of English to join our team of passionate and driven subject specialists.
We are looking for a colleague who is confident enough to try new methods and reflect on how they can improve, who wants to share their experiences with, and learn from their colleagues at a time of positive change in the department, and who will put our students and their best interests at the heart of their teaching.
At Key Stage 4 we enter students for the AQA GCSE over a two-year KS4.
At Key Stage 3, a three year course, we are finalising an exciting new curriculum which celebrates a wide range of texts drawn from the traditional canon to newly published literature from a diverse range of authors.
Our curriculum aims to develop a love of reading, an excellence in communication skills and a detailed understanding of the power of language, both through the skill of analysis and the joy of creative writing. There are opportunities to develop and plan collaboratively in our supportive team as we continue to develop and enhance our curriculum. If you want to work in a supportive, progressive department, where you have the opportunity to teach your passion, where students are well behaved, and where your contributions are sought and valued, we wish to hear from you.
It is important to belong at work and the work you do is relied upon by our students, so even small positive differences which are made, make people very happy. We want to ensure you have a good work life balance and one of the ways we achieve this is by having a two-week autumn half term.
You can view a full list of requirements and further information about the school and Trust in the candidate pack.
If you think you have what it takes to be successful in this role, even if you don’t meet all the requirements, please apply as we may be able to support you in any areas for development or we may have alternative roles that are a good fit for you. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
