Further details about the role

English is a key part of the curriculum and it aspires to develop an excitement about the written word whilst equipping students with the skills required to succeed in the wider world. The course focuses on developing key skills across Key Stage Three and engages with a diverse range of texts and text types from a variety of time periods and perspectives. A structured Literacy programme runs parallel to these lessons to ensure that all students are equipped with high level Literacy skills that they can use across the school and beyond. At Key Stage Four, English Language and English Literature are taught as a blended experience to ensure students grasp the connected nature of the knowledge and skills that they develop: this has led to consistent outcomes above the national average. Both English Language and English Literature are offered at A Level with many students choosing this option to facilitate their future paths. English curriculum details can be found here on our website.
