The Role
We are looking to appoint a creative, forward-thinking, passionate Teacher of English.You will have a love of reading, with a wide ranging field of interest.We want teachers with new ideas on engaging pupils with English Language and Literature.We encourage change and welcome innovation.
You will be joining a strong teaching department with a wide range of expertise.Whilst we will happily support an ECT, this would also be the ideal role to further develop your teaching craft and develop your leadership skills. English is a leading department at Highcrest, GCSE results are good and A-Level students have progressed to prestigious Universities, including Cambridge.Literacy is a whole-school key improvement focus.
In addition, as an experienced member of staff, you may be interested in building ourPrimary Link Co-ordinatorrole where you will forge and develop links between Year 5/Year 6 of our feeder primaries and our Year 7 teachers to improve the provision of STEM and literacy across the KS2/KS3 transition years. Highcrest offers both an excellent induction and support programme for ECTs and an innovative and extensive CPD package for more experienced teachers. This provision of training has been praised as outstanding by an external assessor and highlighted in the local press. For ECTs, we provide weekly CPD meetings with experienced members of staff, time-tabled and protected Mentor Meetings on a weekly basis, subject knowledge time with departments and an extensive personalised CPD plan.
