It also identified that the school may have been classed as Outstanding if a full inspection had taken place.

The school has a key focus on staff well-being with numerous initiatives in place to support this. They include time for planning off-site for all teachers, active sessions in school alongside a range of workload reforms. We place significant emphasis on working collegiately as a staff to share our expertise and subsequently enhance the learning experience with our students. Every member of the staff is involved in a variety of professional learning programmes that take place every Wednesday across the academic year. All teachers are members of the Chartered College of Teaching providing access to the latest evidence and research.

Ethical leadership is at the core of all decision making at Southfield. As such, staff are valued, treated with respect and afforded a diverse range of opportunities that come with professional trust.

We have also implemented a bespoke leadership programme enabling staff to develop their knowledge and understanding of leadership. This has provided a number of promotional opportunities for staff within the school and wherever possible, we will promote from within our school. English is a key part of the curriculum and it aspires to develop an excitement about the written word whilst equipping students with the skills required to succeed in the wider world. The course focuses on developing key skills across Key Stage Three and engages with a diverse range of texts and text types from a variety of time periods and perspectives. A structured Literacy programme runs parallel to these lessons to ensure that all students are equipped with high level Literacy skills that they can use across the school and beyond. At Key Stage Four, English Language and English Literature are taught as a blended experience to ensure students grasp the connected nature of the knowledge and skills that they develop: this has led to consistent outcomes above the national average. Both English Language and English Literature are offered at A Level with many students choosing this option to facilitate their future paths. We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and highly motivated teacher to complement our enthusiastic and knowledgeable team. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a desire to build strong relationships within the team and across the school.
There may be opportunities to teach across different areas of the curriculum with the possibility of further responsibilities in the future. The post will start in January 2022.
