Teacher of English job summary

Are you passionate about helping children achieve their maximum potential, regardless of their starting point? If so, we invite you to join our vibrant team at Tudor Grange Academy Worcester where children flourish both academically, creatively and socially.

In October 2024, Ofsted commended the Academy: "The school aspires to offer a transformative experience for its pupils, and for many, it achieves this goal. Pupils feel genuinely cared for in this friendly, inclusive school. They know that trusted adults keep them safe and will act swiftly to help them if they have any worries. Pupils are encouraged to take full advantage of the distinctive opportunities available to nurture their talents and expand their horizons. As one pupil explained, 'There is something for everyone here.' "

We relentlessly pursue our mission to establish ourselves as a truly great school at the heart of the community we serve. The Academy is a diverse, inclusive school for girls and boys from Year 7 to Sixth Form, where high expectations are set for everyone in our community. Our TUDOR values—Tolerance, Unity, Democracy, Opportunity, and Respect—are the golden strands that run through every aspect of our school.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative and dedicated Teacher of English to join our popular and oversubscribed Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and inspirational teacher who is passionate about teaching the subject of English. Both experienced and Newly Qualified Teachers are encouraged to apply.

Department Information

The department is completely committed to excellence and is dedicated to offering students a positive and enriching experience in English through a challenging and inspiring curriculum. We aim to deliver outstanding Teaching and Learning, focusing on whole school priorities, such as coaching students to be proactive in their learning. We also aim to develop students’ reading and writing skills through exciting and engaging literature that develops cultural capital. We are dedicated to offering students a positive and enriching experience in English, and as such, we offer a range of extra-curricular opportunities, including clubs after school and regular trips.

The high performing department works cohesively together, developing Schemes of Work collectively. Weekly department meetings are important to us; they provide the ideal opportunity for bespoke CPDL, as well as the environment to work collaboratively on practice such as moderating assessments, reviewing student progress or completing Quality Assurance activities. The successful candidate will value teamwork and inspire others.

We believe in ensuring children achieve their full potential. Integral to this is a fundamental knowledge of the students in our classrooms and having real clarity on what learning they need to make rapid progress. The department maintains a high frequency of marking and feedback and the quality of diagnostic marking and target setting has sustained outstanding progress for students over the past five years.

We are now seeking to augment this fantastic team with an equally skilful and committed colleague. We welcome applications from those who are just about to embark on their career and are motivated and driven in a supportive and ambitious environment, as well as from more experienced colleagues who feel they have that something extra to offer such as an extensive track record in teaching to A-level.
