Teacher of English (with History) job summary
The school is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Teacher of English, who can also teach GCSE History to a very high standard. We are seeking applicants who have a confident teaching ability, ideally to commence in January 2023. Although we are offering a full-time post combining English with History, we would also consider applications from strong candidates who are either English or History teachers wishing to accept a part-time role at a suitable FTE up to 0.8.
The standard of English and History teaching at the College is very high and we are looking to appoint someone who can maintain and enhance this. The person appointed would thus be working within a successful supportive culture with plenty of opportunity to support the wider school community. Applicants must be highly professional and committed team members.

South Molton Community College has an excellent team of dedicated and talented staff. It has been graded good under the new Ofsted framework in 2019.
‘The school has a strong ethos of respect and tolerance. Pupils are clear about the need to treat everyone equally. High levels of appreciation of others are evident across the school. Pupils want to learn, and they work hard in lessons. Staff have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour, and low-level disruption is rare. Teachers establish clear routines in lessons.’ Dec Ofsted 2019
In April 2017 we moved into a new school. The school is growing in popularity and this growth is likely to continue. We also believe passionately in providing a well-rounded education to our students both in and out of the classroom and are committed to supporting our staff.
