Teacher of Food and Design Technology job summary

Our vision is to develop world class students who have the belief in themselves that anything is possible and go on to lead happy and successful lives. If you feel that you could play a part in helping us achieve that vision, for every student, then this could be the role for you.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well led, well-resourced and popular faculty, in a school that really values Arts and Technology. These subjects are very popular and successful and this is an exciting opportunity for the right colleague to join us and help shape and develop the subject into the next phase. The successful candidate will be able to motivate and inspire students to develop their skills and understanding of Food Preparation and Nutrition up to KS5 and the ability to teach Design Technology at KS3 is essential. The candidate ideally would possess Level 2 Food Hygiene certification and Certified DATA Machinery training but this is not essential as training can be provided. This post would suit either an experienced teacher or an NQT.
We are an 11-18 school in the picturesque village of Great Missenden in the heart of the Chilterns. We have just over 1000 students on roll including a successful and growing Sixth Form.
We can offer you:
• Students who are a pleasure to teach.
• An experienced, friendly and collaborative team.
• The opportunity to teach this popular subject from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5
• A well-resourced curriculum area
• A supportive approach to workload that removes onerous marking requirements and prioritises whole class feedback
• An evidence informed approach to school improvement, only implementing what we feel will make the biggest difference to the lives and outcomes of our young people
• A genuine commitment to support your career development through a CPDL programme, described by Ofsted as ‘exemplary’, and more INSET days than average.
• Your own laptop in addition to a desktop PC in your own dedicated classroom

The Misbourne officially opened on 20 January 1956 and was the first modern built secondary school in the UK. Over the years the school has expanded and developed to include many more facilities and buildings for our students and staff, retaining its modern, open feel.

In January 2018, The Misbourne converted to a single academy. Today, we are a multi-cultural, co-educational school with 1,021 students currently on roll: one hundred and eighty students in each year group 7-11 and 170 in our growing Sixth Form. The Misbourne has more than 100 teaching and support staff who work as a team to achieve our mutual goals.

The Misbourne enjoys a spacious and attractive campus which provides purpose- built, subject specific areas, tennis courts and extensive playing fields. The academy is fortunate to have a new building for the Sixth Form, English department and café; three new IT suites and a multi-million pound development for a brand new sports centre is currently under construction. The school also provides staff parking.
