An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our well established forward thinking DT Department as Teacher of Food Preparation and Nutrition.
Our successful candidate will be passionate and play a key role in influencing the development and creativity of practical skills, be engaging and challenge students to achieve high standards and reach their full potential.
This post would be equally appropriate for an experienced or a newly qualified Teacher.The successful applicant will be required to teach at KS3 and KS4 in our well equipped purpose built classroom facilities.
We would welcome applications from experienced and early careers Teachers.
We require a Teacher of Food Preparation & Nutrition who has:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A desire to develop their own skills, whilst being a strong team player.

Who are we?
Thurston Community College is a large popular mixed comprehensive school comprising of two distinct and specialist sites. Our Thurston Campus, for students from Year 7 to Year 11 is situated four miles east of Bury St Edmunds. Thurston Sixth; Beyton Campus is located in the nearby village of Beyton, offering a bespoke centre of excellence for students in Year 12 and Year 13.
It was recently announced that the school will be part of the School Rebuild Programme and we have entered the feasibility phase. This will mean we will be a part of shaping a new school over the next few years.An exciting prospect and an exciting time to join Thurston Community College.In addition and due to our growing numbers a new building project has recently been completed at the Thurston Campus which is now open to students and houses three new science classrooms.
