Job description

We are seeking to employ a well-qualified, energetic and enthusiastic teacher of Food Technology to commence in January 2020. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and be able to motivate students through inspirational teaching.

As well as teaching Food Technology, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will teach an additional National Curriculum subject up to Year 9.

You willl have the ability to plan effective lessons, using student data to inform planning and progression. You will also have high expectations of students, based on a sound knowledge of their prior and potential attainment.

Essential qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status

Essential skills and experience

Knowledge
Excellent knowledge of subject
Ability to teach subject up to GCSE
Excellent knowledge of intervention strategies designed to raise attainment levels
Excellent knowledge of strategies designed to increase pupils’ motivation to learn
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills

Experience
Ability to use ICT both as a classroom resource and a management tool
Understanding of the importance of safeguarding/child protection when working in a school setting
Ability to establish excellent classroom management and discipline
Identifiable record of raising standards of pupil attainment in your subject in line with time in teaching
Ability to plan lessons in line with relevant schemes of work and exam syllabuses

Personal qualities/skills
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students
Commitment to team work and the sharing of good practice
Enthusiasm and enjoyment of teaching

Willing to take part in and lead extra-curricular activities
