We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed French specialist to join our successful and ambitious department. As a result of pupils’ very positive experience and progress in Key Stage 3, languages are now core at GCSE and A-level take-up is strong. The ability to offer German at least to Key Stage 3 would be an advantage, but is not essential. This post is suited towards an ECT or an experienced teacher.

We are looking for someone who:

· has experience of teaching languages in a secondary school (as a teacher or as student teacher),

· can establish good relationships with, motivate and inspire young people, and who shows the potential and commitment to become an outstanding teacher,

· is a flexible and perceptive classroom practitioner who can engage students across the age and ability range and enable all to learn, enjoy and make progress,

· is committed to professional development and becoming the best that they can be, and who has good interpersonal skills.

We are very proud of our school, which attracts students from across Greater Manchester and beyond. It first opened in 1834. Our founder, Thomas Henshaw, was a committed Anglican who left a bequest to fund a school which would provide education for the orphaned boys of the parish.

From these humble beginnings, the Blue Coat School has become one of the biggest and most successful schools in the country. Our historic campus has been restored and developed extensively; our students enjoy picnic lunches in front of a Grade II listed building but their learning takes place in superb 21st century classrooms, laboratories and studios.
