The opportunity has arisen for the appointment of an inspiring and engaging MFL teacher with specialisms in French and Spanish who would be able to come and work with us.

This position is full time and permanent and is available from 1st September 2019.

Richard Lander School is situated in Truro to the west of the city centre and serves the beautiful coastal communities of St Agnes, Porthtowan and Perranporth as well as communities closer at hand. It is an 11-16 community maintained school, which is highly regarded in the area and oversubscribed.
Truro, the UK’s most Southerly city is a vibrant centre of shopping, culture and impressive architecture right in the heart of Cornwall. Centre stage is Truro Cathedral with its impressive gothic towers dominating the skyline. In its shadow, a warren of compact streets are home to an impressive array of independent traders. From boutiques to bookshops and designer interiors to delicatessens, this great little city offers a unique shopping experience. The café culture is pretty impressive too, with hip coffee houses, artisan ice creameries and cocktail bars dotted across the centre. There is a yearlong festival programme, weekly food markets and several art galleries, cultural events and historical attractions.

Essential educational requirements

Excellent subject knowledge
Strong knowledge of pedagogy and the process of teaching and learning
Ability to clearly understand and explain the characteristics of high quality teaching
Ability to analyse student progress data and its application with appropriate strategies, in raising student achievement and attainment
Good knowledge and understanding of the curriculum particularly related to subject specialism
Ability to contribute to collaborative planning and schemes of learning.
Good understanding of differentiation / inclusion
Awareness of SEN teaching and learning strategies
Awareness of AfL and its contribution in raising standards of achievement.

Essential qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status
Good Honours Degree in relevant discipline

Essential skills and experience

Evidence of good and outstanding teaching and student progress
The ability to engage and motivate through a passion for the subject specialism, presence and professional skills.
Evidence of commitment to ensuring the highest levels of achievement for all students regardless of background and / or ability.

About Richard Lander School

Richard Lander School is a popular school, over subscribed in several year groups. We have 1441 students on roll and this number is growing. Mr Steve Mulcahy, is our Headteacher and has been since 2008. The building and grounds are part of a PFI contract and are maintained to a very high standard. We have high standards of our students and the staff who work with them. We have an ARB on site which is very much part of our school. We drive to ensure that everyone can 'be the best that they can be' and this includes both staff and students. Our standards are high and our aim is for all children to achieve their full potential, both academically and socially.
