Teacher of French job summary
“To have another language is to possess a second soul.” - Charlemagne
With a significant increase in the number of pupils now studying a language to GCSE at Barr Beacon School, we are seeking to appoint a talented specialist who can teach French to Key Stage 4 with a passion for their subject.
We are seeking someone who will be able to provide leadership skills and experience to support the Director of Faculty in the ever-evolving MFL faculty. Our next teacher of French will be able to provide our children with the best possible experience of this subject with the aim of growing a love of languages amongst our pupils too. Could it be you?
To truly create a great learning environment, you need a setting in which pupils genuinely want to learn. An environment in which your colleagues are as geeky about your subject as you are. The successful candidate will be joining us at an exciting time in the Language Faculty’s journey, where many of our pupils will be studying a language to GCSE as part of our commitment to the EBacc. qualification. You will be able to utilise your experience of high quality first teaching to contribute to the already thriving team.
As part of our commitment to Languages, we employ Foreign Language Assistants through the British Council annually to enrich the learning of our pupils. And, we are about to embark on the Turing Scheme which will see 100 disadvantaged pupils from across the Trust travel overseas for the first time. We advocate exciting opportunities for all pupils and we’d encourage your participation and drive for this too.

The word ‘outstanding’ appears a lot in advertisements for teachers – but at Barr Beacon School, it means more. With over 1000 requests for the 252 places available in Year 7 this September, parents would certainly agree. When Ofsted last visited, they merely confirmed what we already knew.
How have we achieved all of this?
Quite simply, we employ teachers who are as ambitious, passionate and dedicated as we are. These amazing people work hard – in fact they work very hard – to ensure that our pupils make the best progress they possibly can.
Whether they are the most able or or the least able, the most advantaged or the least advantaged, every child deserves nothing less than the very best teaching.
Not surprisingly, there’s a real buzz about the place. If you would like to be part of it – and teach children who genuinely want to learn – we would love to hear from you.
