What skills and experience we're looking for

York High School is looking to appoint an inspirational teacher with a proven record of outstanding practice, to work within our Geography teaching team, providing cover for a maternity leave. It is envisaged that the duration of the post will be one term.

Geography is a popular subject with a good uptake at GCSE and consistently improving results. The team currently consists of a subject leader and two other specialists who all teach across the age and ability range. At KS3, students cover the National Curriculum with a mixture of human and physical topics of study. At GCSE, the students follow the AQA specification with an opportunity to go on a residential to Kingsway Outdoor Centre in the summer term of Year 10.

The successful candidate must have the ability to teach across the age and ability range, and inspire, motivate and challenge young people. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to contributing to the personal development of all the young people we teach.

Applications from early career teachers would be very welcome.

We would strongly encourage any prospective candidate to visit the school. Please email Dawn Becton at d.becton@yorkhigh.southbank.academy if you would like to arrange a visit to the school.

Interviews will be held during the week commencing 24 June 2024.
