Teacher of Geography and History job summary
We are a unique, small, rural 11-16 academy in
the beautiful setting of North-West Worcestershire. Our pupils are happy, well behaved and proud
of their school. The academy has a
strong vein of moral purpose where the child is at the heart of all we do. We
invest in our pupils and our staff to ensure all are supported to be the best
they can be.
We
are looking for a driven and committed practitioner to teach Geography at Key
Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 as well as
History at KS3. This is a popular subject throughout the 7 -11 curriculum. The post sits within the Humanities Faculty consisting
of Geography, History and Religion, Philosophy and Ethics. The team are experienced, collaborative and
passionate about providing the best possible provision for the children at
Tenbury High. The
faculty leader will work closely with the successful applicant to offer the mentoring,
support and guidance required.
Our Early Career
Teacher development programme is very successful. The training is led by Vice
Principal who is also the programme’s professional mentor and coach. She is highly
experienced working with trainees and newly qualified teachers. We work closely
with UCW Worcester and a range of other training providers (including OAT) to
ensure the best possible early years training to get you on the best footing
for a successful and fulfilling career.
For our qualified
staff, we offer weekly CPD following a well planned training schedule linked to
school priorities and developmental areas.
In addition, there are multiple CPD opportunities offered through the
Trust,
Humanities is a popular subject at KS3 and 4
and attracts high numbers for GCSE entry.
The curriculum creates opportunities which inspire pupils’ curiosity
about their world and the people they share it with. The academy
recognises the importance of ensuring pupils gain an understanding of Britain’s
past and that of the wider world. Studying a broad humanities curriculum
helps pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process
of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between
different groups, as well as their own identity and place in the
world.
In
order to understand our very special characteristics, you are welcome to visit
the academy to tour and meet with members of our staff and our pupils. Please contact Christine Sheppard, Office
Manager, to organise this ( csheppard@tenburyhigh.co.uk ).
I am grateful for the interest that you have
shown and would urge you to apply for the post.

arduous to complete. Therefore, I ask
you simply to complete the application and include the following information:

following week.
