Charter was rated as good by Ofsted in July 2019. They stated that there are high expectations of behaviour which leads to a calm, purposeful learning environment. Charter is a team effort between staff and pupils where we all work together therefore, encouraging good staff retention and wellbeing. Over the last two rounds of pupil admissions at year 7 we are now oversubscribed with first choice pupils. Our job adverts are linked to this growth and our desire to support pupils from our community, as well as the introduction of our own sixth form that will work with the outstanding Sir Isaac Newton College in Norwich.

We are part of the Inspiration Trust, twice ranked as the country’s top family of comprehensive schools for pupil progress, and strongly believe in the importance of giving the widest educational opportunities to all young people, regardless of their background. We have strong networks across the Trust, with opportunities to work with a diverse range of schools and partners. We are committed to offering excellent professional and learning opportunities for our staff, with a busy programme of continuing professional development courses delivered by some of the country’s best educational thinkers and practitioners.

Great Yarmouth Charter Academy is a secondary school with a new name and a long history in the borough. We can trace our roots back to 1551 but are forging a new path for secondary education in our great town.

We are part of the Inspiration Trust family of schools in East Anglia, and work particularly closely with our sister schools in the borough.

Great Yarmouth Charter Academy is a school built on respect, hard work and dedication. Our teaching team are committed to giving our students the best education in a calm and focused environment.

The Charter motto is 'Sapientia Potentia Est', meaning 'Wisdom is Power'. Our pupils reflect wisely, learn eagerly and behave with integrity. This is because we believe that we provide our pupils with the wisdom to succeed in different contexts.

Pupils and staff are expected to behave with prudence, justice, temperance and fortitude.

Our students are thriving and the school is going from strength to strength. We were recently rated as good by Ofsted who said we have 'successfully established a culture where there are high expectations'. They also recognised leaders have ‘improved the quality of teaching, learning and assessment in the school, so that it is consistently effective’.
