TEACHER OF HUMANITIES required from September 2020

Salary: Main/upper pay range (London fringe)


Unique opportunity for an ambitious teacher of Humanities (either Geography or History) with a ‘can do’ attitude looking to secure a role in the most dynamic environment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher (apsiring to become a subject leader within the next 2-3 years) with 3-4 years experience who will help shape our school by:

- Being passionate about their subject, learning as a lifelong skill,
and open to innovative approaches in everyday aspects of school
- Using research-driven teaching methods
- Being committed to securing the best outcomes for all students

Essential educational requirements

Education to degree or equivalent level

Essential qualifications

QTS • Demonstrable commitment to own professional development • Knowledge of National Curriculum and reformed GCSE requirements • ICT skills that reflect the impact of technology on modern classrooms

Essential skills and experience

Aspirational teacher with evidence of successful teaching in a secondary school •Good knowledge and understanding of the range of complex needs experienced by youngsters •Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues •Ability to use data and strategic information to raise student attainment •Recent experience in a comprehensive school •Willingness to teach outside of your specialism in the formative years •Commitment to continuous improvement •Commitment to meeting the needs of all students •Sense of humour, presence, drive, passion and flexibility •Ability and willingness to work flexibly to meet school needs •Able to work independently and as part of a team •Approachable and sensitive to the needs of others • Openness and willingness to address and discuss relevant issues •Willingness to take part in extracurricular activities, including trips and visits, and to make a significant contribution to the wider life of the school •Excellent attendance and punctuality

About Katherine Warington School

Katherine Warington School is a new comprehensive, co-educational and non-denominational academic secondary school with 180 Year 7 students. The school will add a further 180 students in each subsequent year and then open a 250 strong Sixth Form. By 2025 we will have grown to our capacity of 1150 students. The school was established through the partnership of the Harpenden Secondary Schools Trust which includes the three outstanding schools in Harpenden: Roundwood Park, St George’s and Sir John Lawes and additional partners: the University of Hertfordshire and Rothamsted Research Centre (a world leading non-profit agricultural science research centre).
