Teacher of Geography job summary
We are seeking to appoint a talented Teacher of Geography who is committed and highly motivated to help pupils achieve what they are capable of in KS4. You will have strong interest in the support of pupils and be committed to excellence as a classroom teacher. You will be expected to develop, plan and deliver effective and high-quality learning experiences to KS4 pupils.
Geography is a popular option at KS4, and the school is looking to deliver different courses and pathways for pupils as the subject continues to grow in popularity.
As we are a growing school, it is likely that the successful candidate will commit to teaching a second subject until Geography has grown further.
Due to the unique nature of our growing school, we would welcome a conversation about career development opportunities and additional departmental leadership responsibilities are available to the right candidate and would carry additional remuneration. This may be immediately or in the future.
Why Orsett Heath Academy?
Orsett Heath is a relatively new thriving mixed 11-16 comprehensive school. As a new school, we opened our doors to welcome our first pupils in 2020. Since then, the school has proved popular with parents and pupils, and we are oversubscribed in all four current year groups. We have created a successful school that pupils and staff are incredibly proud of.
In the summer of 2024, we moved into our new £37m school building adjacent to our previous purpose-built accommodation. When full, the new building will have 1200 pupils and be amongst the largest in Thurrock. We are looking for highly motivated, talented and ambitious staff who share our inclusive ethos and who want to help us grow over the coming years.
Our pupils have a ‘can-do’ attitude, and the school has focused heavily on character education alongside its academic offer since the school first opened.
You will be:
- Committed to the Trust’s vision and values
- At the forefront of education practice
- Inspirational and innovative
- An outstanding teaching practitioner
- A proven leader and manager
- Experienced in curriculum design and delivery
- Experienced in professional development and training
- Able to plan and think strategically
- An excellent communicator.
