Teacher of Geography job summary
This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic Ofsted rated ‘good’ school where all can thrive. We value our staff and want to develop them to the full in a supportive environment. We are looking for a candidate who has a deep passion for Geography, is forward thinking, innovative and committed to achieving excellence in all areas. Geography is on a sharp upward trajectory as a department, with exciting developments taking place within the KS3 curriculum. Moving forward, students will study a knowledge-rich curriculum that focuses on key geographical concepts and develops the procedural knowledge required for all students to become excellent geographers. Student outcomes have continually improved and we are aiming to further capitalise on this with increased numbers at KS4 and KS5. Students are given opportunities to develop a greater understanding of the natural and human world through opportunities to learn beyond the classroom and this is something the successful candidate will play a vital role in moving forward. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing specialists within the department and play a key role in the further development of the Geography curriculum in addition to their teaching responsibilities. The Geography department has also taken a leading role in fulfilling the school’s journey towards becoming a Zero Carbon School and involving the entire student body in fighting against climate change- as exemplified by events hosted during COP26.
