Teacher of Geography job summary

The King's Academy are looking to recruit a Teacher of Geography (0.4-0.6FTE) who will enthuse pupils to learn with a combination of great subject knowledge, energy and dedication.

The geography department provides education to all students in Key Stage 3 with roughly half of each cohort studying the subject to GCSE. The department also offers A level geography. The department is led by the Head of Department and operates from four classrooms in our newest extension to the school, opened in January 2023. The department offers a range of field trips across year groups in the local area and further afield with the ambition being to introduce international field trips in the coming years.

We have high expectations for our students as they grow and develop and all our staff provide important role models to them in terms of positive attitude, work ethic and diligence.

The successful candidate will:

  • develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives
  • facilitate learning by establishing effective relationship with pupils
  • maintain organised learning resources
  • create a positive learning environment in the classroom
  • develop and foster the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children
  • assess and record progress and prepare pupils for national tests
  • link pupils' knowledge to earlier learning and develop ways to encourage it further, challenging and inspiring pupils to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding.
