Essential:
The successful candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status
- Have an Enhanced DBS Certificate
- Have the ability and quality to teach Geography across the age and ability range
- Have the willingness to teach other Humanities subjects if necessary
- Be a good, enthusiastic team member
- Be a reflective practitioner, who has the potential to develop his/her own career further
- Have the ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents and students
Desirable:
The successful candidate will:
- Have enthusiasm for Geography
- Believe that students are capable of high standards, and expects them to achieve
- Have the capacity to develop our pupils both in Humanities subjects and beyond
- Enjoy working as part of a team and sharing expertise
- Be keen to contribute to the development of the department
- Have competent ICT skills
What the school offers its staff
Geography is part of the Humanities Curriculum Team at Wallingford School alongside History, Religious Studies, Philosophy and Media Studies. We are a large team with a wide variety of experiences and skills in all subjects and we regularly meet to share ideas related to teaching and learning across the department.Geography is a very popular subject at Wallingford. An exciting and varied curriculum at KS3 leads to significant uptake at GCSE with over 100 students choosing Geography each year- around half of whom continue their studies to A-level. Geography is taught by a highly committed and enthusiastic team.
