Teacher of Geography (with TLR 2a) job summary
Ark St Alban’s Academy
Teacher of Geography (with TLR 2a)
Ark St Alban’s Academy is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable geographer to join its growing Geography department and to lead Geography provision at Key Stage 4.
A small but strong team of Geography teachers are rapidly improving pupil progress in Geography across all key stages. In Key Stage 3, pupils have two Geography lessons each week and their teachers collaborate with colleagues across the Ark network in teaching and developing Geography Mastery, a knowledge-rich, trust-wide curriculum. In Key Stage Four, there are a growing number of classes studying GCSE Geography and it is hoped that this will lead to the continued growth in the number of pupils choosing to pursue Geography at A-Level in our sixth form.
Our Geography department provides pupils with a thorough and considered insight into the wonders and complexities of our planet. Throughout our 7-year learning journey, a passion for enquiry is developed. Pupils are led through the exploration of a wide and diverse range of places and environments and fieldwork plays a key role in both leading pupils to understand the complex relationships within the world around them, and in allowing them frequent opportunities to practice thinking and acting like skilled Geographers.
A Geography department led by an experienced curriculum leader, examiner and lead practitioner.
Joining the Geography department at Ark St Alban’s Academy provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to be led by a Head of Department who is an experienced Geography curriculum leader and examiner, as well as being a Lead Practitioner. This role will also provide the opportunity to join a network of Geography teachers who work collaboratively across the Ark network of schools to continually innovate and lead improvement across all aspects of Geography teaching, curriculum planning and assessment.

At Ark St Alban’s Academy, we are supporting all of our pupils to climb the mountain to university.
We believe that success in a university preparatory curriculum is the best way to make sure that all of our pupils can make meaningful choices about their future when they leave us. As such, we teach an academically rigorous curriculum and provide pupils with both the pastoral support and the excellent teaching that they need in order to thrive.
As a Church of England School, we believe that climbing the mountain to university is the best way to challenge all of our pupils to fulfil their God-given talents. We also recognise our role in addressing inequality by ensuring that pupils drawn from a low-income community have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. This role will provide you with the opportunity to play a leading role in a department which is going to achieve truly exceptional outcomes for the young people that we serve.
We are seeking a teacher that is ready to play a leading role in our work to provide a transformational education for all of our pupils.
